With its luxury design90HZ display, and 8000 mAh battery, the Redmi Pad appears to be setting the standard for low-cost tablets. See why it is important to think about.

Since the new Redmi Pad is a pocket-friendly tablet, Xiaomi appears to be interested in redefining what a low-cost tablet can do. The gadget appears classy and feels good in the hand at first glance. The new Redmi Pad appears to be raising the standard for an inexpensive tablet with a basic price of Rs. 14,999. On paper, the features appear to be quite unique and amazing for a cheap tablet with nearly no sacrifices. The on-paper specifications include an 8000mAh battery cell, a 10-bit, 2K, 90Hz display, and quad speakers.

plus the MediaTek G99 chipset. But how does it actually perform? Does it satisfy customers' needs and expectations? Read our evaluations to learn the answers to all of these queries. Here is what we learned from using the Redmi Pad for media consumption, e-reading, light gaming, and web surfing for more than a week.

The Redmi Pad stands out from other inexpensive tablets by providing a typical design for the class. It has a stylish metal body and an exceptional build quality that are uncommon in low-cost tablets. The tablet's back panel has a sleek matte feel and a very clean, contemporary appearance. We have the Mint Green colour option, which is appealing and energising. The tablet is also available in the colours Graphite Grey and Moonlight Silver. A vertical camera module and the Redmi logo are also present on the back panel.

The 10.61-inch tablet feels light in the hand despite being 465 grammes heavy and 7.1mm thin thanks to clever weight distribution.

Let's talk about the Redmi Pad's display. It sports a 10.61-inch, 2-K resolution, 10-bit LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, which is a first for devices in its class, and a 15:09 aspect ratio. The display is bright enough to view comfortably indoors, but I had trouble seeing in full sunshine. Its 2K display, which has a high resolution, has reasonable colour accuracy. Even while the 10-bit 2K LCD lacks AMOLED-level colour saturation, it nevertheless performs admirably for a cheap tablet. Even at maximum volume, the quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support provide decent audio with little distortion.

Redmi Pad functionality

Speaking of the new Redmi pad's performance, that is also extremely impressive. Using the gadget is seamless whether you're playing games, viewing videos, reading e-books, or browsing the internet. Astonishingly, it didn't lag or heat up as I played Temple Run, Subway Surfers, Candy Crush, and a few other games—in contrast to the Motorola Tab G62 LTE, which was just released for less than Rs. 20,000.

Thanks to the powerful MediaTek Helio G99 chipset and generous 6GB RAM, it handled multitasking quite well. The tablet can run many programmes at once without experiencing any lags, and apps load swiftly. Both portrait and landscape modes of the tablet are available for video calls.

Let's now discuss its software. The tablet's 15:9 aspect ratio screen and MIUI 13 software, which is based on Android 12, enable multitasking to be done efficiently. The device allowed me to run apps in split-screen or floating window modes to maximise the display. Furthermore, I can run three applications simultaneously thanks to its multi-window capability.

Life of Redmi Pad's battery

With heavy use, the Redmi Pad can easily go more than a day without needing to find a charging outlet. The 8,000mAh battery cell even provides up to three days of energy backup with mild to moderate use. Its 18W charging capabilities may let you down, though, as charging the device takes longer than usual. However, it can be disregarded given its price.

Verdict

I can claim that the Redmi Pad has raised the standard for low-cost tablets after using it for more than a week. Surprisingly, for less than Rs. 15000, it provides greater performance and a superior user experience than any other tablet in this price range. This Android tablet provides a significantly better value and a fantastic tablet experience, even when compared to more expensive models.
